New Year, New Outdoor Decor Ideas

As we head into the new year, take time to reflect on and appreciate all that we have.  Let’s get excited about changes and projects (maybe some that weren’t completed last year?) and start planning now for what we want to accomplish in our outdoor décor projects this spring. Our design philosophy is all about adding curb appeal, function and personality. Hopefully we can inspire your creativity with some DIY ideas!

Shading Structures

Shading Structures

This was a custom job for a client and friend who had a lovely rooftop patio.  The arches were in place but had no cover or shading, making it uncomfortable to sit and enjoy sunny days.  Our solution was to use 8′ black panels with 4′ cedar panels centered on each arch.  The result is both functional and stylish.  Also note how overlapping our mesh fabric creates a wavy motion effect.

The black mesh coordinates well with the client’s existing furnishings. It also provides contrast to the white metal arches.  The cedar tone mesh warms up the space and adds another dimension.

Although this commercial project was a bit complex with attachment to metal (and a very windy environment) the concept can easily be used in a residential application. If you have a pergola, weave our mesh through to add shade and/or carry the fabric down to ground level to add privacy.  Cover a children’s play area to protect them from the sun’s rays.  Use wood or metal posts to create a shade sail.  Extend metal posts inserts into chain link fences to create a shaded corner in your backyard. The possibilities are endless.

We would love to hear your ideas or answer any questions.  My backyard projects this year are inspired by clients and their creativity!
